Why am I fundraising?

I want to be able to help people and save lives and make a difference in the community as much as I can. It has been my dream and passion to be a doctor. However, my family situation was not favorable being raised in a lower middle class family. Naturally, I had to assume responsibility of my mother and two siblings younger than me. I was about 8 years old when my father passed away. Although my mother got married again, my step father was not particularly in favor of my further education. So my education stopped after plus two. Then I have completed a diploma in computers and has been working since I was 17. Also, I am a transgender woman and I have come a long way in my life and have always been motivated and commited and responsible and strong. I have acted in a not for profit transgender based short movie called Project Indian Bride which is yet to be released. I was also invited by an MNC company for one of their Corporate Diversity and Inclusion event as a guest speaker. It was very inspirational and motivating. 

My family situation is much better now comparatively. But we have no one to turn to for any assistance or funds for my education. I have been an independent person all my life - the natural effect of someone who grew up with responsibilities.

I am now read to go to college and be committed and focussed in completing my studies which seemed almost impossible until now. I need help, I need your help to make my dream come true and be a doctor.

I am provisionally accepted into a 4 year Pre-Medicine Program at the Trinity Western University in Canada. It will open up a world of opportunities once I am graduated and go to a medical school to continue my studies to be an MD doctor. Also, I intend to help as much as I can in whatever ways I can as it is in my nature to help anyone I can.

What do I plan to do with the funds?

I will cover the Tuition and Living costs during my first year of University Degree program. I also intend to use the funds to cover other costs related to application, adhoc expenses like medical insurance, other payments or fees to college and purchase of any books and study materials. If there is any amount raised in excess, I will use to cover my second year of school. 

I am hoping to raise enough funds to cover the costs for 1 year and I will be working part time and during holidays to cover the remaining years and make the payments back to Milaap. I am also hoping to get some form of scholarships from the 2nd year which should help greatly in continuing my education.

        Yes, provisionally. I need to make the application fees to complete the         application process and reserve my seat.

• I am 29, isn't it too late for studying at Pre-medicine level?

        I believe in learning and I believe in second chances and I believe it is never         too late to chase your dreams.
