Why Am I Fundraising?

My name is Ramana and I hail from Thondangi village in Andhra Pradesh. I work as a helper in a rice mill.  This is an appeal to save my younger son, Subash. He is 5 years old. He is diagnosed with a blood disorder and should undergo blood transfusions frequently.  He was continuously falling sick and we took him to Government Hospital. They did a bone marrow test and said there was nothing to worry. We went back home thinking he will be okay, but he felt sick again. For next one year, my son suffered a lot. We took him to the hospital again and doctors there asked us to go to CMC Vellore Hospital.  

Doctors at CMC Vellore did the bone marrow test again and found that he was suffering from a condition called Myelodysplastic syndrome. He underwent several blood transfusions. Doctors told his body does not form blood and transfusions are a temporary solution. We owned a small house in our village. I pledged the house and got some money for managing the cost of the transfusions and medications. The treatment required us to stay near the hospital. Doctors advised that a bone marrow transplantation is needed to help Subash.

Need For Funds

The cost for bone marrow transplantation is over 20 lakhs. I don't have any money left to pay for his next blood transfusion and there is no way I can arrange for 20 lakhs. I have been trying to get some support from my relatives but they don't seem to understand the urgency. They have recommended that I take Subash back to the village and treat him at home. But I am not ready to take the risk.


My only chance to collect this huge amount is by asking kind-hearted individuals. I am a complete stranger to you but I know you can understand the pain of a helpless father. Please help my son. Funds collected through this campaign will be transferred to hospital for the transplant.

Doctor's Note

5-year-old Subash hails from a small village in Andhra Pradesh. He has been diagnosed to have a condition called Myelodysplastic syndrome with an excess of blasts ( MDS- RAEB). It's a condition where there is no proper formation of blood in the body and he requires frequent blood transfusions. He will require chemotherapy followed by bone marrow transplantation.  Subash family come from a very poor background. Inspite of all the odds the family is very motivated to take treatment.  Fortunately, Subash's sibling is a complete match for the bone marrow transplantation.
