About the campaign

Why am I fundraising?

Moved by farmer suicides in India, I was in search of some fundraiser or campaign that was working in the grass root level in rural India.Sitting miles away, I felt sad, frustrated and at times guilty for not being able to volunteer or support them in any way.

I was inspired by i4farmers, an organization started in United STates is impacting the lives of farmers in India. To do what is in my hands rather than complain about what is not.

"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
 Mother Teresa

Here is a short film on how farmer suicides affect families.

Why Jattu  -

While JATTU trust is an organization that is improving sustainable livelihoods, living and lives of poor, particularly from tribal communities, it also runs an orphanage in Parvathipuram, a rural part of Andhrapradesh, close to the origin of my in-laws.

This orphanage  was started about 11 years ago to take care of children in difficult circumstances, most of them orphans. While this place is well run, it lacks basic facilities like doors for the bathrooms and fans.

What do I plan to do with the funds?

The funds raised will go towards improving the basic infrastructure of the orphanage at Parvathipuram.
