I am a "Sleep Rough Champion - GOLD" for Under The Stars 2014. I have registered for the event ( at https://uts.explara.com/ ) and have additionally pledged to raise a minimum of 1,00,000 INR for one of the benefiting NGOs of the event - Baale Mane* (http://www.baalemane.org/). The funds will contribute towards the new physical infrastructure at Baale Mane. The buildings will provide clean and safe environment along with an improved living space and recreation area for the girls and the staff members.

*The Baale Mane (Baale Mane means “Girls’ home”) at Gopalapura is a home situated on the outskirts of the city of Bangalore, India, for around 60 girls between the ages of 6 and 18 . They welcome and support girls of all faiths and do not discriminate on the grounds of caste or creed.

What is Under The Stars? What is Daan Utsav?

Under The Stars (UTS) will be part of Daan Utsav (Oct 2nd to Oct 8th), India's very own festival of giving which started in 2009 and has grown by leaps and bounds across cities in India. Indians from all walks of life are encouraged to engage in acts of giving during the week, this could be something personal and individual or something you organize as a group. It can be by giving your time, money or skill to a cause. During the week there are also platform events organized by volunteers for which the general public are invited to participate..... Under The Stars is one of many such events.

Under the Stars (UTS) is a unique sleep out event in India - which took place last year for the first time in India and was a big hit in over 20+ cities. It aims to raise awareness for vulnerable children and those living in destitution and homelessness. The event will also be a fundraiser for NGOs working in this area. It will take place on the night of Oct 1st at Ascendas Grounds, Park Square Mall, ITPB Whitefield.

How can I participate? How can get involved more?

Happening this year for the second time, we are challenging 2,000 individuals to sleep rough without shelter for one night on 1st October. Participants register ( BUY PASSES at https://uts.explara.com/ ) for a pass by making a donation of Rs.1,100/- to one of the partner NGOs (See 'Who we are helping') that are supported or to the common pool, where funds will be divided equally among our NGOs.
