A man drawing a beautiful caricature, with tears in his eyes, when questioned why is he crying he staggered and answered. “I am suffering from cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, (a type of Cancer) I can say what it is.” I was moved by his testimony and said, “what if we take care of that and trust in yourself, you will make it through. That was Madusudan Das a man from cooch Behar, West Bengal, belonging from a remote village, his grand father a poor and struggling farmer, just living hand to mouth. Madhu helped his family in the farms but suddenly one day he saw lumps coming up on his body, the local doctor dismissed him with some skin ointments etc. In anvil he ran from pillar to post showing his condition to many doctors etc. His condition worsened. Finally borrowing money and pawning things, Madhu came to Calcutta where to his horror he was diagnosed as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. The doctors told him to go to Mumbai at Tata Memorial hospital.

The doctor’s at tata recommended chemo. Madhusudan could not have a square meal properly. Here chemo where will he get that money? Running pillar to post in a strange city, no one to lean on. He met “Save From Hunger” who put a ray of hope and gave him a new life. During one of our survey’s we met Madhu in the hospices, we saw him drawing a caricature, and we did not know that he had cancer. When knowing he has cancer. We immediately asked his back ground and were told he is a fine arts graduate and is learning drawing. He had an ardent desire to learn computer.

Seeing his interest we gave him a nice sketch book, trained him in the basics of graphic designing. His progress prompted us to participated in “Parle Mahotsav,” a drawing competition, where he got a certificate of participation. He was overjoyed with the response and accolades he got from the mass.

Beaming with confidence at his success and progress he has wished a computer for learning Graphic Designing course and more designing programs. Please help Madhusudan to buy a Computer/Laptop so he can explore more skills and make his future bright like colours.
