Help Sahad Undergo Liver Transplant

Ask for an update
9th September 2016
To all well-wishers, who have contributed to Sahad's cause and have been relentlessly following up on his status, we are writing on behalf of Sahad and family to update you about the last few days.
Summarizing them here:

1. The Surgery: Sahad underwent the surgery on Sep 6th, as planned. The surgery which started at 6 in the morning when on till late night, after which he was kept under observation. Thankfully, yesterday (Sep 8th) he regained full consciousness. His brother, Ajmal, who was the donor, had been moved to the ICU post-surgery and is currently in good health. Thankfully, Sahad, Ajmal and the rest of the family are on the path towards recovery, physically and mentally.

2. The Support: We started this initiative to raise money for Sahad's medical treatment on Aug25. At that point, we were given a timeline of 3 months and a target of Rs. 40Lakh for the treatment and post-operative follow-up cost. Baffled by this proposition, we set out seeking help from our close friends and family. Within a few days, we were informed that the surgery had to be done in less than10days, due to both the surgeons' availability and Sahad's health condition. What followed was a hysteric attempt to raise money in record time. We created a campaign on Milaap and reached out to all our friends and family through Social Media. Over the next few days, several miracles happened. The whole of TKM Institute of Technology, where Sahad graduated from, got together for this initiative. Current Students, Members of Faculty, Management and Past students, helped spread the message like wildfire. Today, in just under 2 weeks of starting the full-fledged initiative, we have crossed the Rs. 40 Lakh mark and more contributions are flowing in as we speak. We understand that it is important that the funds go to the needy, and as of now we have enough funds for Sahad'scause. Therefore, we would like to officially announce that we are closing this campaign.

3. The Gratitude: We would like to take this opportunity to thank those unnamed volunteers who took up this initiative with all their might over the past weeks to get us to where we are. Special mention of gratitude to every single member of the TKMIT family for making this happen. We would also like to thank all the corporate organizations, especially the Hospital, who came forward with significant financial contributions. We received messages and calls from people all over the world, which was full of consolation and strength. Thanks to everyone for helping us to get here. Many of you were also able to take time off to meet Sahad and family in person to provide the much needed moral support. The people of Sahad's Panchayat also put their best foot forward and raised a huge sum to support him (this was done through a formal committee setup by the Panchayat). Most importantly, we would like to thank all members of the medical profession who have been involved in supporting Sahad right from the beginning and will continue to do so in the future. We haven't taken any names here as it would lead to an unending list of great and inspiring people -but we salute the commitment shown by each of you to bring a friend back to life.

4. The Way forward: As next steps, we would request you to let everyone know that this initiative is now closed and Sahad, thankfully, has enough money to meet his medical needs. Now all we need from everyone out there is prayers - to keep Sahad and family healthy, and to give him the courage to pass through this phase and come back with a bang.

We thank everyone from the bottom of our heart for being part of this noble cause. We intend to keep our efforts alive through supporting people like Sahad in the future as well. We all have learnt a great lesson from this experience that there is nothing that can beat the will of people who have signed up for a just and noble cause.
Thanks to all of us, Sahad will continue to be a father to his child, a husband to his wife, and a son to his parents. Sahad will continue to be a testimony to the goodness in the world and the strength of love and compassion.
We take this opportunity to thank milaap for providing us a platform for starting a fund raising campaign towards this cause.
Lets keep the spirit going. Lets join hands to save more lives and spread more smiles.

My friend SAHAD, a 26 year old young man and his family (a 3 month old baby and his wife) look forward for your helping hands. Please help them in the best possible way you can. Mr Sahad is suffering from a critical disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis that has caused 80% of liver  failure. Now they are in a situation where the doctors have recommended a mandatory liver transplantation surgery  for which a total expense of 25 lakh rupees is required. His brother is the donor.  The surgery is targeted to be on 6th of this September as recommended by doctors. Hence humbly request you all to contribute towards Saving a life in the best possible way.
