Dear Supporter,

Manju underwent surgery for the brain tumor yesterday at 11am. She is now stable but yet to gain full consciousness. The surgery was intense, lasting for over 5 hours, and the brain tumor was successfully removed.

The doctor performed a checkup this morning, testing basic brain functions. He asserted everything was fine. She had a slight fever last night but that isn't unusual after brain surgery.

She will be undergoing a CT scan today for further diagnosis.

But, there's still no update on her vision problems at the moment. We are anxiously hoping she will be able to see again. Hopefully, it's a matter of her recovery process. We will know more in the next few days.

The surgery has already relieved Manju from a dangerous condition that could have caused serious damage if treatment was delayed. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and contributions. Manju and her family are tremendously grateful for your support! :)

Please keep Manju in your thoughts and prayers.

More soon. Thanks! :)

Dear Supporter,

I would like to thank you for your wonderful and generous support for our Manju. Here is an update:

As planned, Manju was admitted at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences hospital on Monday. The doctor instructed for an MRI and said the surgery would be in 5-6 days.

The MRI was done yesterday evening and we're awaiting further updates from the doctor on Manju's health and treatment.

Manju's father is busy arranging for blood and getting more information on medicines and other items required for the surgery.

I will update as soon as I have more information.

Thank you once again.

Good news! Manju will be at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences hospital on Monday morning for a checkup and is soon after expected to undergo treatment. Quite understandably, she is nervous and anxious, and we hope and pray for her to regain her vision very soon.

Thanks to your efforts, we raised Rs. 30,500 for Manju in one week. I would like to thank each one of you for your kindness and prompt response to Manju's plight.

In our attempt to get Manju admitted quickly, we had to make changes to our approach. Thanks to a gracious charitable trust, funds required for the surgery and radiotheraphy have been made available to the hospital.

Funds collected from you are still immensely helpful. If not for unexpected surgery costs, they will be useful in covering costs for post-treatment tests and care. I urge you to continue supporting Manju's family until she gets through this difficult phase. Post-surgery costs are something the family had not originally considered, and they may become a significant burden. I'm in touch with the Milaap team regarding this situation and will keep you updated on the expenses.

Thank you all again for your kind understanding and support.

Following is a detailed sequence of events so far:
Sun, 18-Dec
Campaign on Milaap began after I met Manju's father, Babulal, in Mumbai

Tue, 20-Dec
Received word from a charitable trust willing to take up the cause and cover all estimated medical expenses. I contacted Neurosurgeon who had operated on Manju in May. He asserted that Manju required treatment at the earliest

Wed, 21-Dec
Given the urgent nature of Manju's case, progress of fundraiser on Milaap seemed inadequate. At this point, the plan was to gather funds from Milaap in Babulal's bank account and request the charitable trust to cover remaining costs. Milaap had also notified there may be a delay in processing withdrawals due to demonetization. Anticipating that delay, we issued a withdrawal on Milaap to Babulal's account. However, there was an issue with Babulal's bank account that forced us to change the plan [1]. With immense help from the charitable trust, we began transferring funds to the hospital's bank account. Babulal met me late evening and collected donation documents to be delivered to the hospital

Thu, 22-Dec
Babulal left for Lucknow. Later that evening, the charitable trust completed the transfer of funds for Manju

Fri, 23-Dec
Campaign goal was revised from Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 29,500 (amount already collected) to prevent an excess of funds. My sincere apologies if this caused any confusion

Sat, 24-Dec
Babulal reached the hospital in Lucknow and enquired about the earliest date for Manju's surgery. He was instructed by the doctor to bring Manju for treatment in 1st week of Jan '17

[1] Babulal has just one bank account. On transferring Rs. 50,000 to his account, the transaction failed with "ABOVE MAX BALANCE" status. It turned out that he had a zero-balance account with limits on deposits as well as withdrawals. His balance before the transfer was Rs. 1000, and maximum balance allowed was Rs. 50,000. He had no idea about these limits and had no means to convert it into a general account. So even if we had raised funds quickly on Milaap, the withdrawal restrictions on the account would have prevented us from utilizing the funds according to plan :(

Thankfully, the charitable trust worked out and the hospital had essential funds by last Thursday.

Please do get in touch in case of any questions or concerns.

Warm regards.
