Dear Friends
Hope you had a great week. I am posting some updates from the last few weeks.

1. Maize and Urad  work with rain-fed farmers of Vilathikulam: The Vilathikulam area was suffering from drought worries 15 days ago. Uneven and low soil moisture soil moisture led to variable germination of seeds across the field. This made it difficult to time application of the fall-army worm treatments.

More than 200 farmer partners worked extremely hard with the support of Toothukudi Farmer Producer company and Magasool to implement the bio-mitigation steps.

Unfortunately all of this came to a naught mid week with a 12cm rain deluge. The fields are flooded and the extant of rain damage will be clear once the waters recede from the fields. We will continue working with the farmers to manage the hand dealt by nature.

2. Modified System of Rice Intensification (MSRI) through mechanized transplanters

Magasool staff have completed transplantation work for 108 farmers in Kalpakkam (350 acres), 26 farmers in Cuddalore (84 acres), 12  farmers in Lalgudi (32 acres), 6 farmers in Thiruvallur and  5 farmers (16 acres) in South Tamil Nadu.

Nursery preparation is underway for 80 more farmers across Tamil Nadu.
We will also start up-skilling 2 farm workers as machine operators in Theni.

The kitchen garden will start end of November and remote extension will start from early January.

Fundraising - Your generous support has helped us raise Rs 9,40,000 (Milaap + direct contributions to account). In addition, we have commitments for Rs 50,000.

We request your continued support and enthusiasm for raising the remaining Rs 2,00,000. The funds are essential for the remote extension work.

Please let us know if you have any queries.
Thank you
Ajay
