Dear supporters,

I am Debotri Roy, an open fellow at Milaap. Here is an update on Suraj's treatment.

I spoke to his mother, Sunitha, today morning. "My child has rejected the first and second bone marrow transplant. My husband was the donor for both the times. But Suraj's cells have destroyed the donors cell twice. I don't know how much my child has to suffer", says Sunitha.

His blood count is really low. The haemoglobin count ranges in between 4-6, and platelets count varies in between 2000 to 4000, which is genuinely very less. The child has to undergo blood transfusion every week. He also suffers from a lot of bleeding issues. Presently he is on G-CSF injection, given on a weekly basis to improve his immunity system.

"Till now whatever medications we could provide to Suraj is because of the donors. We just wanted to say THANK YOU in the biggest way possible", said both the parents.

Suraj is a super active kid. He wants to play around throughout, however, he is forcefully locked inside the room. He is prone to infections which generally take quite a long duration to heal. "It seems like as if he does not have an inbuilt immunity system" told his mother.

The doctor said the only ray of hope for the child is an immediate bone marrow transplantation. However, this time, Sunitha will become the donor. His parents are extremely worried. The child has been suffering a lot for the past couple of months. Please do pray for a successful operation and help him fight this battle.

"I thank you a lot for helping me during this tough time. Even though you & I have never met, the helping hand that you offered will not be forgotten. We will always keep you and your family in our prayers", said his father.

Thank you once again. We will keep you posted on his progress.

Dear supporters,

We, Sunitha and Balaji, parents of Suraj are very thankful to all the donors and Milaap for all your donations and support given for his bone marrow transplantation.

As mentioned earlier his first transplantation was rejected/a failure hence he had undergone transplantation for the second time. After hospitalization of 2 months and 20 days he was discharged on 22.12.2016. But had developed fever on 29.12.2016 and is hospitalized again. Currently, he is on antibiotics and awaiting few reports to confirm the reason for the fever. We would keep you all updated on the status of his health.

We are very grateful to all the supporters. Please do keep our son Suraj in your prayers.

Dear Supporters

The bone marrow transplant was carried out in the first week of November, but Suraj did not respond well to the operation. The blood counts started falling a few days after the transplant. The donor for the transplant was his father who was not a complete match but sufficient as a donor.

The second attempt at bone marrow transplant was carried out on November 19 and Suraj is currently under observation in the BMT ward of Narayana Hrudayalaya Multi Specialty Hospital, Bangalore. His parents, Sunitha and Balaji are very worried.

Please pray that Suraj recovers from the transplant successfully this time and gets well soon.
