Dear Supporters & Well-wishers,

We hope you all are staying safe and doing great. It’s been some time since Reemi’s progress got posted. Apologies for this delay. The family faced difficult times in these two years with a pandemic situation. In spite of these hurdles, Reemi got her treatment at LV Prasad Institute, Hyderabad regularly. Commuting from Nagpur to Hyderabad was difficult in covid times; still, the family took utmost care and continued with their visits to Hyderabad for treatment.

In these 2 years, the team of doctors has been diligently treating the baby. They are hoping that gradually the left eye might develop the cornea for a partial vision hence they are trying to help the left eye as much as possible through the medicines. It seems they will wait for another 2-3 years (she is now 2.5 years) for the natural growth to progress after which they might consider surgery if needed.

The right eye is completely anophthalmia with no hope for vision and has collapsed socket. She is given treatment to expand this socket so that eventually an artificial eye could be fitted in.

When Reemi was born and this fundraiser was started, the family and all the supporters hoped that within 2 years Reemi might see the world at least through one eye. Although she has some sight in her left eye (it seems she can make out that the object is moving but can't identify it), Reemi’s treatment still has a long way to go.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to all the supporters and requests that Reemi should be in your prayers always.Thank you very much for the love and support.

Dear Supporters,

Baby Reemi turned 6 months this 2nd August 2019. She has a consultation due at LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Hyderabad. She has been visiting the hospital every month for follow up consultations.
In the last consultation, we were told that the doctors are preparing the right anopthalmic eye for the prosthetic eye. A small tube-like structure is inserted in her right eye to widen the cavity. Hopefully, after a year or so, the eye cavity can accommodate the prosthetic.

In the left eye, it seems there is some level of improvement. The doctor said that the eye is responding to light and hence there is a possibility for limited vision if the development takes place at the same pace. However, they are refraining from corrective surgery at this point as this may lead to loss of whatever level of vision achieved so far. We will get to know more in the upcoming consultation.

Dear friends,

Thank you for the wonderful support. Just now received an update from Baby Reemi's parents. She is now 4+ kgs, the doctors have investigated her health and found that there is much improvement in her left eye, some possibility of vision development normally.

It seems her left eye is responding to some light. Such vision improvement should continue on its own as she grows. Also in the right eye, the doctors have put in expander/confirmer for expanding the eye socket; over a period of time (maybe in a couple of years) the baby will have a prosthetic eye.

Thus today's investigation reveals that there is some hope of some degree of vision in the left eye.  The doctors have advised exercises for the eyes like always keeping the baby exposed to multiple light colours etc. The next investigation is scheduled for June 15th, 2019. Please do keep supporting. Will keep you posted.

Thank you!
