Female menstruation is still considered a social taboo and as such, 9 out of 10 girls are unaware of their menstrual cycles. The ones who are aware of it are not open to talking about it.
Teaching girls about general hygiene, making them understand what safe touch/unsafe touch is and to inculcate facts about periods that are hidden from them is our Superpower ❤️
Our mission is to raise awareness on gender issues and bring it out in the open. Through our programs, we have been teaching young girls that their menstrual cycles are natural, a sign of good reproductive health and are something they have in common with girls in countries worldwide!
Help us reach out to more girls in 2020.
Here are a few pictures fro our recent session:

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your love and support.

_WOMEN OF COURAGE_ is YOUNGISTAAN FOUNDATION'S very own program where we educate girls and create awareness on Child Sexual Abuse - Safe touch and Unsafe Touch Menstrual Hygiene and basic hygiene.
Through this program we managed to reach out to various government and low income schools and orphanages and 11000+ girls have acquired knowledge regarding their menarche,  safe touch and many more topics which they haven't even thought it existed.
As a part of our journey with WOC program, our volunteers heard stories where more than 80% girls still use unhygienic methods like ash/mud during Menstruation. Hooey stereotypes about periods is just an add on which increases our bar of difficulty to break it.

Never the less, in our discussions with children we teach them sterilized method to use cloth/sanitary napkins.

With your act of kindness we managed to distribute sanitary napkins to most of the girls.
Your kind donation has saved many girls from using ash/mud during their menstruation.
Looking forward to change many more lives together :)
Thank you!

Dear Supporters,

All women go through it, but only a few speak about it # PERIODS!

We tend to celebrate all special events in our lives, so why not celebrate our periods? Volunteers from Women of Courage visited 4 different locations which included Orphanages, an NGO and a Government school.

The volunteers inducted the young girls about #MenstrualHygiene and #ChildSafety, incorporating various fun activities to reach out to the young girls.

A general hygiene session was also conducted for both boys and girls. They were also taught about sexual harassment, and how to counter the same, in case they faced any such situation.
At the end of the sessions, beautifully wrapped Period Kits consisting of sanitary napkins, and essentials for a girls period were handed to the girls, to celebrate their womanhood, and share the joy of periods
We got a very positive response from all who attended the sessions.

With that very intention in mind, volunteers from Women of Courage Program, Youngistaan Foundation, that aims to build safe spaces of dialogue and engage and empower underprivileged adolescent girls, decided to celebrate Menstrual Hygiene Day with girls from around Hyderabad.

The theme for this year's Menstrual Hygiene was - 'It's Time for Action', which not only emphasizes on the urgency of this public health issue but also highlights the transformative power of improved menstrual hygiene to empower the world's women and girls and unlock their economic and educational opportunities.
