Fundraise for a Cause with Milaap : the Best Crowdfunding | Milaap
23rd January 2017
Hi All,

I know this has been a long pending update. Over the last 6 months i have been working with a number of companies  and individuals to see how to kickstart the project, as i noticed there isn't a lot of belief in the project as this is something new and there is nothing to show before people can donate.

By God grace and lot of effort, i have managed to find a corporate that has funded my project(50%) and i have personally invested 50% of my own money to the cause.

We have already begun the project on Jan 15th and you can follow the updates here https://www.facebook.com/urbanchennaifarms

I have decided not to withdraw the money from the campaign and wish to restart it so that i can use this donation to start another rooftop that can achieve the same. I can replicate the same model that i am currently using. With this funding, i should be able to come with a 2500sqft project instead of projected 1000sqft.

Do contact me if you need more details on my current project. Attached are photos for the status of the current project and I'm quiet confident that if i start a new site i should be able to achieve a better efficiency and cost reduction.

As you can see in the photos we have already started construction of the Greenhouse in the rooftop and the plan is to start the first run by the end of Jan. We should have our first harvest to distribute by Mid March.

Following that we should be able to distribute some produce in alternate weeks. Currently the plan, is only to grow Greens(no vegetables like tomato , brinjal , etc) and we will have close to 1500 greens growing in time. However, we will also work out a plan so that we can harvest at least once in 2 weeks, so that we have a constant supply of greens.

Here are the pictures-

Please do keep supporting us and help us achieve our goal.

Thank you,

Best,
Hari

Dear Supporters,
A diagrammatic explanation of how the hydroponics would be carried out in stages is explained with pictures below.

Glimpse: Entire output.
The proposed picture below, is a computer generated output of how the final yield would look after the hydroponics plants have fully grown and ready for harvest inside the green house on my terrace. Placement of the plants,  Nutrient Supply tank , exhaust fans and foggers are ideally designed by hydroponics experts, to provide the best outcome, for the proposed layout of plants.

Artistic impression of how Hydroponics will be carried out:
Picture 1:Top view of the Green house setup - Bucket system and Nutrient film technique.

Picture 2: Interior view of the Green house. Small herbs are grown in NFT (e.g.:coriander) whereas plants that requires  more root area are grown in air buckets (e.g. Tomatoes).

Picture 3: Seedling  station.
Area where the seed is grown to a sapling, before been transferred to the NFT and  Air bucket system.

Picture 4: Artistic impression of how the the plants look after they are fully grown.

Picture 5: Tomatoes, Brinjals and capsicums grown in Air buckets are shown.
