You are aware that one of our two teams has returned from Assam after covering many areas in Barak Valley (Palanghat, Khelma, Jalalpur, Dholai) while another team is still visiting Guwahati, Morigaon, Nagaon and other places. There were three persons  in the team, consist of Prasun Maitra, Rajkumar Saradar & Soumen Bhowmik, that visited Barak Valley while Devdutta Maji & Rajiv Kumar Singh are covering Guwahati & surrounding areas.

We have withdrawn Rs. 1,50,000.00 from this fund and its our responsibility to provide you the details of expenses made so far. This details do not include expenses made by the second team during their visit but includes the cost of to & fro journey from Kolkata to Guwahati.

1. Cost of flight tickets, vehicle used for transportatio, information collection & distribution of relief -  Rs. 84,750.00.

2. Hotel expenses for 3 days including dinner for 3 persons - Rs. 9,066.00.

3. Expenses made on lunch for 3 persons + driver -  Rs. 2,400.00

4. Relief given to victims (Kamakhya Das & Shilpi Roy) - Rs. 40,000.00

TOTAL - Rs. 1,36,216.00

We will update the balance expenses once our second team returns.

Today, we have come back to Kolkata after 3 days tour of Cachar dist in Barak Valley, Assam. Our another team has gone to cover Guwahati, Nagaon & surrounding places.

During our tour, we met with the family of Kumud Ram Das who was taken to detention camp more than 1.5 years ago and since then, his family is trying hard to get him out. They have sold their 2 cows, mortgaged their trees to collect money required to fight legal battle. Their son is earning Rs.180/- per day while working a daily labourer, while they need to pay Rs.580/- per week to Bandhan Bank for Rs. 50,000.00 they borrowed to pay their lawyer who has gone missing. We have given Rs. 20,000/- to Kumud Babu's wife, Kamakhy Das through cheque.

We also gave Rs. 20,000/- to family of Mithon Das who committed suicide on 11th August after he found the names of his family members are missing from NRC as their legacy certificate has been used by someone else. Mithon Das is survived by his father, mother, one sibling and wife who is pregnant & having one daughter and son of 4 years & 2 years of age respectively.

We also visited some villages in Kathigora, Jalalpur & other places and educated people about process of NRC and documentation. We will keep you posted on future updates as soon as our team comes back from Guwahati.

Thank you for the support!
I am withdrawing the fund from this campaign to my account. I will be transferring the same to Devdutta Maji's (who has been helping in this endeavour) account as we are willing to provide relief to victims by cheque and I am out of cheque leaves.  Once we are back, we'll update the details of expenses specifying all charges incurred during the trip.
