Dear People,

As a part of the campaign that we have embarked, we have some exciting things to tell.

We will be lighting up 100 houses in Meghalaya and Sikkim areas before the end of December.

This will help 100 families with good lighting that can be used for their children to study and also the womenfolk to cook dinners.

With the winter season kicking in, it gets dark very quickly in the Northeast and we believe that these lights will help these families immensely.

Thanks again for your support and we value your contributions towards this project a lot.

More updates soon.

Dear Supporters,

Erappa & his wife Bhagya with their 2 children live in a place Santhe Bachahalli, in KR Pete taluk in the state of Karnataka (around 150 kms from Bangalore) where they are leading a very tough life.

Erappa is a daily wage worker who is earning a living by running a portable sugarcane juice shop in Kolar which is close to around 200 kms one side. He visits his house only during the weekends. During the week, Bhagya is the one who is looking after and attending to their children’s needs right from helping them study and complete their homework whilst also doing the household chores.

Because of the electricity situation - which is very unreliable in these parts, the children are sent to the nearest town for tuitions as the cost of using kerosene & candles cost them close to around 600/- per month which is tough to manage.

During the exam season, the children find it very hard to focus and study using candles.

Upon them getting solar based home lighting systems, their children are studying from their houses itself and the couple have had no need to spend on kerosene and candles. They have now started savings.

Their houses were lit up in December 2017 and it has been close to 10 months now and they are very happy with the same.

In the last couple of years, thanks to your valuable contributions, we have impacted close to 1300 such families in the grid deprived areas by giving them access to kerosene-free, candle-free lighting.

These people have now completely stopped their dependency on usage of kerosene and candles and have started saving the money that was being used for it.

Now , this year 2018, we would want to continue our annual program of raising funds from our supporters and well wishers to increase the number of families from our existing 1300.

For the same, we would request you to help light up one house.

It takes around $50/ INR 3500/-  to light up a family and help save them from the harmful kerosene fumes.

Help Light up the future.
