After a total of 17 chemos in 18 months, Dinesh has now been advised to stop Chemos. The chemo sessions did not prevent the spread of cancer to new parts of the body so the doctors have advised to stop chemo. One positive news is that even though the cancer has spread the rate of spread has been relatively slower as per doctors. We are looking forward to the next stage of treatment, namely administering Afatanib 30mg tablets which is specific to treat such cancers. More about that drug here https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/treatments-and-drugs/afatanib This currently costs 58,000 Rs for 28 tablets in India and Dinesh thanks all of the contributions received so far that helped him do the last 6 chemo sessions as well as to get these very costly tablets. Dinesh is also undergoing Ayurveda from Shimoga, Karnataka and he sounds more positive than ever before. I am extending this campaign to until end of October hoping for more contributors. Update 4: 14 chemos later Dinesh and all his well wishers are awaiting results of his scan that is scheduled for August 20. We will know about the latest size of cancer cells. Dinesh has also come across Ayurveda treatment from Shimoga Karnataka which he is going to undergo parallely. Ayurveda treatment is basically consuming natural tree bark boiled in water and similar such natural therapy for just around 1000 Rs so Dinesh thinks it's worth a try. Hopefully by end of this month we will know if all of this has had an effect on his cancer cells. Fingers crossed.
