Fundraise for a Cause with Milaap : the Best Crowdfunding

Dear Supporters,

I am Ibrahim, a Milaap open fellow. I recently met Marylin Remedios and her family at her home to get an update on her recovery. You will be glad to know that she is doing good and on her way to complete recovery. Her husband, Sheldon, recalls the dreadful morning when he was dropping her to Dadar station, from where she was supposed to catch a train to Goa. The road around Mahim signal was dug up haphazardly and that was where their bike hit a pothole and overturned. Marylin’s head hit a cobblestone. “For 10 mins, I kept shouting and no one came to help”, says Sheldon. Finally, someone came and we took her to Baba hospital where there were no neurosurgeon or facility for CT Scan. After losing an hour over there, she was finally admitted to Lilawati hospital, where she got proper treatment.

She underwent a major operation from whence she slipped into a coma. The left part of her skull had to be removed. When she woke up, she had lost some of her memory and had trouble recollecting names and faces. As of now she’s got most of it back, thankfully. ”The fact that she was discharged in 24 days was a miracle for us”, Sheldon remembers. She had a second surgery a month later to fit back the original piece of skull. Since then, she has been on medications and recovering slowly.

Marilyn and her husband were planning to permanently shift to Goa before the accident happened. Now, her husband works from Goa, while Marilyn and her 2 daughters, Adelyn and Angie, have to live in Mumbai. They had heard about Milaap from a friend. She was the one who had raised the campaign. “The money raised from Milaap was a big help. People, most of whom we didn’t even know, from around the world were helping us”, says Sheldon.

It was really heartening to see Marilyn smile and fight through her recovery. Sheldon hopes that his right hand, Marylin, would one day be able to join him back in his business. We, at Milaap, hope and wish for the same.

With the support and prayers of each one of you and the blessings of GOD, Marilyn is out of the ICU .She has now been taken into the stroke and Rehabilitation center where she will undergo rehabilitation for walking and managing stress..she is doing fine......except for the stress that she's going through and is longing and crying to be home with her daughters .
