We would like to take moment here and appreciate all the support that we have seen. A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU for your assistance, especially during these difficult times.

We want to share with you Mithila's story, for you to be able to understand better, how our interventions are taking place during the lockdown.

Here we would like to share with you Mithila's* story:

Mithila contacted us through Instagram, after which we communicated with her via messages since it was not safe for her to talk. She and her mother had been kept under house arrest by her father who was threatening to kill them as soon as the lockdown was over. He had been abusing her mother for the 25 years and it had gotten worse during the pandemic. We contacted the One Stop Centre in her area, who then rescued both the daughter and mother and made arrangements for them to stay in a safe shelter space. URJA is now supporting her in her legal processes against her father.

This is just one of the many stories that we have come across, highlighting the tough and life-threatening situation that women face.

Keep Supporting
24th July 2020
We continue the work and are constantly looking for solutions to keep evolving our interventions along with the COVID crisis, in order to be able to keep supporting the homeless young women. With the crisis and economic uncertainties, new fundings are not easily available and the reality is that we need your support now more than ever to keep our interventions going. All our work had now become a mix of not only addressing the urgent needs of the homeless young women but also their long term need for assistance until they are able to find sustainable livelihood again.

The families are still struggling to make ends meet and require food and hygiene essentials.

We thank you and urge you, to step forward and be our co-traveler in supporting us in our interventions keeping in mind the COVID crisis and its long term impact.
