This week, Apni Shala team, through our initiative to "connect families in low-income communities with information and support already available on available COVID-19 from government and other organizations/individuals in their area with respect to food, grains, medicines, etc", was able to provide ration and other basic support to 55 families. We are grateful to Purvi from Aims Foundation who helped with providing the packets and Anukriti for supporting the transportation cost. Siddhesh Bhosale from our team directly supervised the distribution to ensure that all families in need to receive it:

On social-emotional support, we were able to provide training to over 30 counselors, mental health workers, and educators on how to use storybooks for social-emotional support in these times. Along with that, Amrita Nair, Sangeeta Zombade, and Akash Gaikwad from our team ran separate workshops for children on storytelling, read-aloud and resilience building.

We have also released two new resources for parents to use for social-emotional wellbeing for children at home.

Coming up:
  • Rohit Kumar and Bimba Chavan are facilitating an online workshop on 16th May on Identity and Wellbeing ( http://bit.ly/asfwellbeing) - All our donors are invited to join in.
  • Amrita Nair, Krutika Khare, and Abhijeet Dhurve are facilitating a webinar on Social-Emotional Learning for over 40 teachers from Pune Municipal Corporation.
  • Working with partners to provide ration to over 800 families in Mankhurd, Mumbai.
  • Rohit Kumar will be speaking on mental health at a panel discussion organized by Arthan Careers.
  • Ongoing psycho-social support the families and children through calls and WhatsApp.
