Thanks to your generosity, our partner NGO in Odisha, United Artists' Association (UAA) has been able to distribute relief kits to 400 affected fisher families in Ganjam, Odisha.

We are extending our fundraiser by another month. Even with covid-19 lockdown rules now relaxed, fishworkers from coastal communities desperately require our support and help. Field reports inform us that the series of lockdowns has pushed fisher households back into debt. Even if some families and individuals have resumed fishing, demand is low and incomes are insufficient to pay back these additional lockdown loans. The funds we raise will help ensure that fishers continue to feed their families and provide basic health to prepare for the uncertain weeks of this monsoon season.

By providing families with basic necessities through your support, we can reduce fishers' borrowings at least for food, and give them another shot at escaping greater indebtedness.

To see fisher families through this period of recovery, we aim to continue fundraising to support our partners in relief operations in Odisha and Tamil Nadu over the coming weeks.

We thank you for your continued support. Please do share this campaign in your networks and help us reach our goals.

Our partner NGOs on ground have been working relentlessly to ensure that relief kits reach affected fisher families.

In Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu, 16 families from North Vilunthamavadi, 99 families from Kameswaram  and 109 families from Vanavanmahadevi have been provided with sanitation and food supplies.  In Cuddalore, relief kits have been distributed to 220 families from Killai town.

As the lockdown has extended into the annual fishing monsoon ban for many states, Fish Workers now have to face the annual suspension of fishing without any cash reserves to fall back on.

We therefore aim to continue providing support to Fisher Families, even beyond the lockdown, as they will need time and resources to tide through the damages incurred during the lockdown and achieve some semblance of routine.

We thank you for your contribution and support.
