May 18th, 6:00 PM - Update #8

Dear donors, we hope everyone is keeping well, staying safe and that you have access to everything you need to get through these hard times. We wanted to write in with our next update and extend our gratitude to you for enabling us to reach 72% of our goal. Do continue sharing this fundraising campaign with friends and families, so that, together we can ensure that all our children and their families are taken care of.

As we enter our 7th week of relief efforts, we have been able to provide food relief and financial relief to over 5000 families across  all 7 Teach For India sites, disbursing a total of Rs. 41,00,000. Since we last wrote to you, we have worked to ensure the following:

  • Ahmedabad - We continue to work with our partner, Panah Foundation, and have provided relief to 157 families in Ahmedabad worth a donation of Rs. 110,000. These food packets will last them till the end of May.
  • Delhi - Our Fellows along with the local grocery partners have made arrangements for several families. So far, we have been able to access 10 families with a donation of Rs. 9223 and expect a surge of the relief efforts through this week and next.
  • Hyderabad - Similar to Delhi, the partnership between our Fellows and the local grocery partners has grown strong, impacting a total of 171 families through a total donation of Rs. 136,800 over the past few days.
  • Mumbai - The Mumbai team’s efforts have allowed us to reach 132 different families through donations of Rs. 134,584.
  • Pune - In Pune, a combination of partnerships with local grocers and the team, have allowed for us to reach 152 families. Through our partner Mukul Madhav Foundation, we have impacted an additional 35 families. The total donation here has been Rs. 166,250.

We have an update on the learning front. Our cities are working hard to collect information on our students, their  phone numbers and their network partners to be able to recharge their devices to begin their summer learning courses.

All of this has been possible through the tireless efforts of our teams, our on-ground and implementation partners and volunteers.

We want to assure you that we are ensuring our people and partners are taking precaution and following the advice from medical experts and government officials as we go about providing the relief material.

Thank you

May 7th, 2:00 PM - Update #7

Dear donors, with the extended lockdown, we hope everyone is keeping well, safe and that you have access to all the necessary commodities during this time. As of today, we have reached 70% of our goal, all thanks to the contributions of each and everyone of you - we are extremely grateful! We’re one step closer to our “virtual learning” plan for the students in our communities and hope to update you as soon as we confirm any partnerships.

Here’s an update of the work we’ve been able to do over the past 10 days. We have been able to reach out to roughly 4300+ families over the last 4 weeks in all 7 cities using a total of roughly Rs. 36,00,000+ to provide primarily food relief and some financial relief to our communities. Since we last reached out to you on the 28th of April, we have worked to ensure the following:

  • Bangalore - We continue to do a mix of food and financial donations in Bangalore. With a local grocer and The Better Design Foundation, we’ve reached 48 families with a rough donation of Rs. 31000.
  • Delhi - Our Fellows with their local grocers continue to be at the forefront of Delhi’s effort with around 15 families access (Donation amount roughly Rs. 11000). We’d also like to introduce a very important partner - Rassoi on Wheels - who have worked with us to provide rations to 58 families for a donation of Rs. 29000.
  • Mumbai - Through a mix of local grocers and NGOs (Voyage Education), 92 families have received relief with a total donation of Rs. 101385
  • Pune - The local grocers of Pune have been our partners through and through. With their help, we’ve been able to get food rations to 183 families in different corners of Pune worth a donation of around Rs. 1.6 lakhs. We’ve continued work with Round Table NGO to impact another set of 40 families with a donation of a little over Rs. 24500.

This has been possible through the tireless efforts of our teams, our on-ground and implementation partners and volunteers. We are also mobilising and identifying relief efforts by local government agencies and directing our most urgent needs families in some cities to such resources.

We want to assure you that we are ensuring our people and partners are taking precaution and following the advice from medical experts and government officials as we go about providing the relief material. Do continue sharing this fundraising campaign with friends and families, so that, together we can ensure that all our children and their families are taken care of.
