April 27th, 11:00 AM - Update #6

Dear donors, we hope you’re all doing well and staying safe. Thank you once again for all the support that continues to pour in - thanks to you we’ve reached 50% of our goal and are able to continue our efforts. Your contributions have reached far & wide, allowing so many families to not worry about their next meal & have enabled us to continue providing relief. As the need for food relief is being met, we are now working with a group of internal stakeholders and experts in the ed field to imagine what learning looks like for our students in communities. We’ll update you on this over the next few weeks.

Here’s another update on our efforts for the past week. We’ve been able to reach out to 3900+ families over the past 3 weeks in all 7 cities of Teach For India so far - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune - using a total of Rs. 3242312 of the total Milaap Donations so far to provide food security and financial relief to all these families. Since we last reached out to you, on the 21st of April, the following work has been possible with our on-field partners:
  • Bangalore - Our on-ground partner, The Better India Foundation, who has been doing a lot of fantastic work with relief funds. We’ve managed to reach 264 with their help so far which has amounted to Rs. 331410 in donations. We’ve also continued to partner with local grocers to impact 103 families as well.
  • Chennai - With the help of our partner Safa India, we’ve distributed food supplies to 578 families with a total donation of Rs. 311253.
  • Delhi - Our partnership with CEHRO continues, with a new set of 65+ families being supported with a donation of Rs.67000. Additionally, our Delhi Fellows have been working with local grocers to provide food for 27 more families.
  • Mumbai - We’ve continued working with local grocers all over Mumbai to support 128 families with a total amount of Rs. 85347 being donated to them.
  • Pune - Similar to Mumbai, we have continued working with local grocers and with a new foundation, the Round Table NGO, to impact a total of 82 families for a donation amount of Rs. 63800.

This has been possible through the tireless efforts of our teams, our on-ground and implementation partners and volunteers. We are also mobilising and identifying relief efforts by local government agencies and directing our most urgent needs families in some cities to such resources.

We want to assure you that we are ensuring our people and partners are taking precaution and following the advice from medical experts and government officials as we go about providing the relief material. Do continue sharing this fundraising campaign with friends and families, so that, together we can ensure that all our children and their families are taken care of.

Thank you
