Dear Supporters,

Here's an update.

The Sheroes Gala Meet (SGM) 2018 was held from 20 to 21 December 2018, with about 50 acid attack survivors from across the nation and hundreds of visitors to the conference and exhibition. The 2018 event entrenched thought leadership within the Sheroes Hangout projects in Agra, Lucknow, and Delhi to continue to create a more sustainable campaign against acid violence and to ensure more help to the beneficiaries of Sheroes members.

Entitled “Sheroes Gala Meet”, this two-day summit brought together experts and the survivors. We hosted a total of 8 different personality development sessions such as counseling, meditation, and games. It brought together the survivors from 5 states of India for the first time. An exhibition on the journey of campaign Stop Acid Attacks from year 2013 was also a highlight of the event. The event saw a very high level of survivor members taking part.

- The dialogue session witnessed new members such as Malini, Mamta from Orissa, Pooja and Vimla from Delhi, addressing the key challenges in the rehabilitation of acid attack survivors.

- The event had the participation leading activists working on the similar issues, researchers, welfare agencies, volunteers and parents/relatives of survivors.

- The Summit helped shape the business management of cafe projects through knowledge exchange. The forward-looking agenda was designed to enable the employees of Sheroes to stay up to date with the latest developments and opportunities. In this regard, there was strategic insights from the board members, group leaders, volunteers and staff members, as they tackled the most relevant issues: reach-out to more survivors, improving the business of cafe projects, creating new job opportunities for more acid attack survivors.

- Mumbai based musician and singer Harpreet opened the party in SGM. His unique songs of determination and peace and the compositions of melodies derived from the poems of ancient Urdu poet Kabeer and Punjabi poet Pash were the unique experiences for all the attendees.

- Session of Sunil Yogi was to help survivors develop a breathing method to open the energetic channels of body and mind, based on work on the seven chakras and yoga techniques.

Sheroes Gala Meet 2018 ended on a high note, with a strong commitment for the campaign Stop Acid Attacks. The Chhanv Foundation could attract many distinguished people who shed their insights to ensure a strong network for the campaign. Then platform also garnered excellent remarks in the ability to provide attendees an opportunity to network as well as interact with management of the Chhanv Foundation.

We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the supporters of the campaign for making this successful debut event possible, first of its kind in India.

Looking ahead, Sheroes Gala Meet 2018 will drive the momentum towards Sheroes Gala Meet 2019.

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for the wonderful support. The Gala Meet 2018-19 of Sheroes happened on 20th & 20st Dec 2018.

This two days workshop was open to acid attack survivors, their loved ones, trauma workers/volunteers, allies and everyone in between. Campaign Stop Acid Attacks welcomes self-exploration, healing, solidarity, community building, and self-care through Sheroes Hangout at its Noida center while empowering participants to be in control of their own empowerment.
We brought around 50 acid attack survivors together to highlight the plights of the victims of acid attacks in India. We are inviting all survivors of acid violence in our network who want to learn about sharing their stories of survival to enact cultural change and/or further their own healing.

To the bring the maximum number of acid attack survivors under a roof to let them know the attack, the trauma they faced is not an end but it is a beginning of the second phase of life. The event will host the survivors which are associated in either way with Sheroes Hangout & even who are still living with the isolation and agony.

With this, a few workshops and seminars will be organized on acid attacks for them. These seminars would be intended to open discussion in the following relevant themes;

Social & Psychological perspectives of Acid Attacks.
Social Exclusion of Acid Attack Survivors.
Adequacy of laws dealing with the acid attacks.
Rehabilitation of acid attack survivors like easy access to employment in the private & the Govt. sector.
Efficacy of victim compensation schemes.
Sensitization & Awareness to the Public.
Efficacy of Punishments.

Thank you for the love & support.
