Dear Supporters & Well-wishers

Due to your support for our campaign "Let’s unite and fight against COVID-19 to support the most vulnerable communities" along with more than 600 team members of Jan Sahas working on filed and trying their best to provide support to the most vulnerable social groups particularly migrant labour and their families in 62 districts of Delhi-NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra, we were able to complete the following task in the last 30 days!

1. Jan Sahas Helpline: As of now we have received 21046 calls for help on our both helplines. Response teams of 28 members are working 24x7 to provide assistance in all possible manners to the communities. All the callers are provided with information related to safety and protection from Coronavirus. Further, they are connected to various government schemes and Jan Sahas relief support team in intervention districts.

2. Immediate Relief Support: Till now Jan Sahas has provided immediate support to 16824 families. Largely three kinds of support were provided to community; food supplies (dry ration for a month), mobile balance and direct bank transfer. Our relief activity was largely focused on venerable social groups like migrant workers, signal women, women-headed households, families of malnourished children, manual scavengers, victims of trafficking and survivors of rape/violence.

3. Safety Kit distribution: Jan Sahas has provided 5,826 Safety kits to community members and frontline staff (sanitation workers, ICDS Workers, Police, etc). We have ensured that appropriate government guidelines are followed, personal safety measures are taken and physical distancing norms have adhered.

4. Mental Health Support: Jan Sahas is providing psychosocial support on call through our 24x7 helplines for survivors in distress. These sessions are usually 30-40 minutes as brief therapy. This involves a) Assessing the needs and concerns of the survivor or caller, b) Protecting them from further harm, c) Helping them to access basic needs, d) Providing practical care and support, e) Listening and helping them feel calm and f) Connecting them to information, services and social support.

5. Research report on Impact of COVID 19: We have conducted a rapid assessment on the Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on Internal Migrant Workers through telephonic interviews with 3,196 migrant construction workers from North and Central India between 27th to 29th March 2020 and prepared the "Voices of the Invisible Citizens".
 
6. Web-portal: We have developed a dynamic web portal Kamgar. This is a resource website with all recent and updated information on government rules, orders and guideline by central and state government. It also has a compilation of reports and resources developed by various other stakeholders.

All the donation collected through this campaign will be transferred to Jan Sahas Social Development Society for relief and support to families impacted due to COVID-19.

Dear Supporters & Well-wishers

An update on Let’s unit and fight against COVID-19 to support the most vulnerable communities

In the last two weeks:
 
1. Jan Sahas Helpline:  We have received more than 14,000 calls on our both helplines. A response team of 26 members is working 24x7 to provide assistance in all possible manners to the communities.
 
2. Ration safety material support: We have assisted 8,200 plus individuals through cash transfer and ration support. We also collaborated with other corporates, CSR and individual supporters for sponsoring ration and safety material support (such as mask, sanitisers and soap). With our frontline team in few states and association with CBO’s and volunteers we also reached out the places were our team was not available. In the next week, we are trying to support 12,000 more families as we have received a lot of requests of families stuck at various locations.

Research report on Impact of COVID 19: We have conducted a rapid assessment on the Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown on Internal Migrant Workers through telephonic interviews with 3,196 migrant construction workers from North and Central India between 27th to 29th March 2020 and prepared the "Voices of the Invisible Citizens".
