Here is an update on Succor's health:

10 days after the first procedure to treat his brain aneurysms by onyx embolization, Succour continues to be on/off the ventilator in the ICU at Thunga Hospital at Bhayandar. Hospital bills including bed rental, ICU and ventilator charges, medicines, OT charges doctors fees have touched 6.5 lakhs, far surpassing the original estimate of 4.5 lakhs owing to the delicate and serious nature of this life saving procedure.

As the bills continue to mount, the family of Succour are concerned for his health and safety.  How will they meet the growing costs of hospitalization? Will they have to stop treatment prematurely? Will the seizures affect his brain if he is removed off the ventilator before complete healing? Will they be forced to move him to a government hospital in comatose condition and will he survive the transfer?

As they contemplate all the choices they have, and trust God for the outcome, they are aware that additional financial assistance will make all the difference between death or paralysis for Succour. The campaigners, friends and family of Succour appeal once again for help. Help that is desperately needed at this time. Help that can keep this
young family safe. God bless you.

Dear Supporters,

The doctors have revised the estimate for the second procedure to 10 L, which is double the previous estimate. We have not yet received the bill for the current procedure as the patient continues to be in ICU with some post operation complications. But it is expected to be over 7 lakhs, depending upon actual post operation recovery.

As campaign organisers,  we too were a little critical of the increased costs so we called for all reports and showed them to doctors here in Goa. They too confirmed that the lesions are large which in turn necessitated large amounts of the 'glue' which were used in the first procedure. The 'glue' which is imported costs 50,000/- a vial. Post operation complications cannot be ruled out which would mean extra expenditure in ICU, medications etc.

The revised estimate has been added to the documents for reference.

Dear Supporters,

Rita's husband Succour underwent the first of the two procedures for his brain aneurysms on Friday, 9 June 2017.  The procedure took over 3 hours and was conducted by a team of four doctors lead by Dr.Jathin Rai.  The procedure was declared successful and post operation scans showed renewed flow of blood to the affected areas of the brain.

Rita and family are grateful to all those who helped financially and otherwise towards making this possible and giving her husband a new lease of life. However doctors had initially informed them that the amount of 'glue' used in the procedure would depend upon the actual need during the procedure. As it happened, more than 6 vials of 'glue' costing around 50,000/- a vial was ultimately used taking the total cost of the procedure to nearly 7 lakhs as against the earlier estimate of 5 lakhs. The doctor has since negotiated with the pharmaceutical company to reduce the glue rate on compassionate grounds, bringing down the billing to 6 lakhs.

The family has borrowed the additional money to pay the hospital bill. It is also likely that the second procedure will cost the same, taking the total expenditure for Succour to 12-14 lakhs. Rita has appealed to everyone to help meet this additional financial burden that has befallen her family.

She thanks everyone for their kindness and generosity and wishes good health and God's blessings upon them and their loved ones.
