Fundraise for a Cause with Milaap : the Best Crowdfunding | Milaap
27th June 2017
Hello donors,

I will be transferring the amount of 445.94 USD (approx Rs 28,747) to Krishna today and the INR amount of Rs 86,710 in a few days. I will let him know about all the people who have come together to help collect this amount so that he has a chance of starting a debt free life.

The total collected amount of Rs 1,15,457 + Rs. 21,500 collected through other sources will be used to pay off one of the creditors in part and I will let you know once it is done.

Here is the current status of payments :

Creditor 1 -
Total payable - Rs. 1,50,000
Payment made - Rs 50,000 (amount collected through family + housing society).
Payment due - Rs. 1 Lakh

Creditor 2 -
Total payable - Rs. 1,50,000
Payment made - Rs 50,000 (amount collected through family and housing society)
Payment due - Rs. 1 Lakh

Creditor 3 -
Total payable - Rs 2 Lakhs
Payment that will be made from Milaap crowdfunding proceeds - Rs 1,15,457
Payment that will be made by funds collected through other sources - Rs 21,500
Total that will be paid - Rs 1,36,957
Payment due - Rs. 63,043

Total payable to all 3 creditors - Rs. 5 Lakhs
Total paid/ will be paid - Rs  2,36,957
Total due - Rs 2,63,043

Though I am relieved that I have been able to raise some funds for him, I am still anxious because I have not been able to raise the remaining amount of Rs. 2,63,043 that accounts for more than 50 % of what he has to pay off his creditors.

Regarding his property papers, a lawyer I sent Krishna to, suggested that it is better that he pays the amount to the family that has confiscated his papers and gets them back instead of taking it up legally. I am seeking out other lawyers now who can advise him better and still hoping that there is a legal recourse to get his papers back.

Thanks to your support I have come a long way in helping Krishna, but there is still miles to go before he gets debt free. But, I have faith that though the going is tough, there will be a final solution to this.

The campaign is still live and I request you to share this on your networks, just in case there are others who would also like to help. Additionally, if you have any other suggestions and advice on how I can take this further, please send me a mail at mail2piya@gmail.com.

Thanks once again for your help and please keep Krishna in your prayers.

Warm regards,
Piya

Hello donors,

I know it's been a while since I shared an update about Krishna. This is because I had very little internet access the last couple of weeks as I was travelling.

Before I left, I had asked Krishna to give me letters from all his creditors mentioning the amount he owed them and also collected copies of their PAN cards/Aadhar cards. I had then given him Rs 1,10,000/- that I had collected from family and our housing society.

He has now paid Rs 50,000/- each to two of his creditors.  They have given him a receipt of both payments with revenue stamps attached. He has given me copies of both receipts.

So now he has a balance of Rs 10,000 of the amount I gave him.

I have so far collected Rs.1,25,511/- on Milaap. So, total collected both through cowdfunding and other sources is Rs. 2,35,511/-. The total amount payable to his creditors is Rs.5,00,000/-. So, there is still an amount of Rs. 2,64,4 89/- that I have to help Krishna raise.

Regarding his property papers and the amount of Rs 3,00,000/- that he needs to pay to get them back , I am sending Krishna to meet a couple of lawyers this weekend to figure out where he stands legally and what is the way forward.

I will start transferring the funds collected from all of you in installments to Krishna from next week and will keep you updated on what it is being used for.

Meanwhile, request to please continue sharing this link on your networks and sending your good vibes so that I can meet the funding goals and overcome all challenges.

Once again, a heart felt thanks for helping Krishna start a debt free life.

Thanks,
Piya

Hi donors,

Thanks a lot for your hearty contributions.
The last few days since I started the campaign to help save Krishna from loan sharks has given me a deep faith in the positive transformative power of human networks. When I started the campaign, I really did not know what to expect. But, the number of people who have reached out to help both with funds and with advice has been phenomenal.

So far, I have managed to raise Rs.1,13,111 through crowdfunding. One thing in particular that has struck me are the number of 'anonymous' people who have helped fund this initiative. I may not have a chance to personally thank them, but it is amazing to know some people just want to help others and prefer to stay unnoticed.

I have also raised an additional Rs.1,10,000 from family and by writing a letter to members of our Housing Society for whom Krishna has been doing miscellaneous work for the last 30 years. So, that is a total of Rs 2,23,111/- collected so far.

My initial crowdfunding target was Rs.8,00,000/-. Of that Rs.2,23,111/- has been met through crowdfunding and other sources. Still a huge amount is needed to clear off the debts

Thanks everyone for the support you have shown and I can only promise to try my best to ensure that Krishna has a fair chance at starting a debt free life where he has dignity, knowledge and security.

Keep supporting
Regards
