Slowly we are approaching the meeting time for the exchange. It has been a drama, with the slow withdrawal amounts and the Mafia family threatening and pressing for the money. Our bank has been very cautious and helpful, knowing full well what this account is all about . However, after talking with some other people who have NGO'S here in Tiru, we have decided to splurg and bring in all the US dollars at once. Not receiving her Pan Card yer, it might beget questions , but it is a completely legal transaction from one bank to another, so there should be no problems. And, I have no problems answering questions. Otherwise, it could take months to receive all the money and that would not be good! Hopefully, by 1st week in June this should be finished!! Chinnaponu and  family still staying out of Tiru.

Dear Beloveds,

We finally got Chinnaponu a Bank Account. Now we can start depositing the money in her account. This Campaign is almost over and I want to thank each and every one of you for your generous love and care for this family.

I have spoken to some attorneys about the best way to go about the final exchange of money for signing the release of debt papers.  There seem to be 2 ways: one with an attorney and one without.  Since this Mafia family puts fear in some people, as the time comes nearer to meet with them, I will decide which way is best. I also have local Tamil people giving me good advice.

I will keep you posted. It will take some time for all the money to come into Chinnaponu's account.  Thanks to you, we have it!

Dear Beloveds,
I am sorry to bother you with all this, but
Milaap is asking me to post an update every time I withdraw money from their account to put into Chinnaponu's bank account!  Unfortunately, without a PAN card, I can only withdraw and deposit small amounts at a time, under Rs 20,000, until she gets her card. So, you will be bothered with all these small updates with no new content in them.

The only new development is that the Mafia family decided that the grace period to pay the 3 laks was over on Chitra Poornami, May 10th, and have since beaten up Chinnaponu's husband. Chinnaponu and husband have run back to Pondicherry to escape them. This morning I heard that the Mafia family does not want to wait for the money but wants the daughter and grandaughter in their house as slaves, until it comes.
We cannot push the PAN card but have to wait for it!! I have to make some quick decisions as to this new situation!

I will keep you informed!!
