Dear Supporters,

Thank you for all the love prayers and support.

I regret to inform you that my brother Dharani has passed away.

He had a successful Bone marrow transplant on the 23rd of December 2019. The doctors kept him under observation and once he was discharged he had to visit the doctors twice a week ( Tuesdays and Fridays). After one and a half month, we found out that he had a viral infection in his blood. His treatment consisted of injections twice a day for 14 days, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Tragedy struck on the 7th day as his health started to deteriorate. He was weak. On the 13th day, his health deteriorated more as his blood platelet count reduced from a normal count of 6000 to 2000. He was admitted immediately. After spending a week in the hospital, his platelet count was looking fine and he was discharged.

After the Bone Marrow Transplant is completed the new cells take some time to adapt to the recipient's body, this causes a lot of side effects, like infections. So doctors conduct blood tests every week during checkups and suggest the next course of treatment.

My Brother had caught malarial infection and in a couple of days after he was discharged he was given another set of injections for his infection. After 3 to 4 injections, my brother started to vomit. He was unable to eat as he used to immediately vomit the food. His health deteriorated further and we admitted him in the hospital.

His immunity was low and it was a prolonged treatment. After a few days in the hospital, his health started to deteriorate further and he developed breathing problem and he was put on a ventilator.

After the best of treatment given to him aided by your support, unfortunately we couldn't save him.

Once again I would like to thank all of you for your valuable support, love and prayers. I did the best I can for my brother and that was only possible because of Milaap and all of you. Without your help, we probably would have stopped the treatment midway, so once again thank you all from the bottom of the heart. Please pray for Dharani's soul to rest in peace.

Regards,
Arun
