Thank you for your support so far! Without your help, we would have not been able to achieve the impact we have in the last 2 years.

However, with the new academic year, we are still dealing with issues around basic amenities. The school lacks basic infrastructure like drinking water, toilets, a compound fence for children's safety. So we are planning a year in advance to make sure our next academic year is not same.

The schools needs 2 classrooms to accommodate the growing strength of students. We wish to also dig a bore well which will keep us away from all water troubles. The school compound needs to be urgently fenced to ensure safety of our dear students. This expansion will cost us around 20 lakhs.

• 4 classrooms (20x20 ft) - 3 lakhs per room
• Borewell - 1.26 lakhs (Borewell is already dug. Needs funds to make it functional)
• 4 Toilets - 72000 
• School compound and fencing - 79000
• School gate and arch - 20000

Here's an update

On 10th Apr 2017, Chiguru School entered into an agreement with current land owners to purchase the 1 acre land for its school.  It has paid Rs. 4.1L out of the total Rs. 6L.  The remaining Rs. 1.9L is due for payment by January 2018.

The Chiguru school's current priorities are:

1. To run the school efficiently for its children in classes LKG to 3rd standard.  About 80 students are enrolled this academic year that started this month (June).  Some form of classroom sharing is being done, as the current school has only 4 classrooms (this year's requirement is 5:  LKG to 3rd std.)

2. Manage its finances well for running the school and raise funds for paying the balance for land purchase by January 2018.

The new land will be used for classes after rooms are built on it.  Chiguru will take it up only after the land purchase is completed early 2018. It is using the new land for small time farming (growing corn), with minimum investment (around Rs. 5K) and planning to build a boundary wall using income from the farm produce.

The generous funding from friends in March/April 2017 has helped Chiguru school take a very important step towards a stable establishment of the school - buy its own land, a major part of the payment for it having been completed.
