Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for the wonderful support and love you all have showered on us and our sanctuary. Your response has been off a great help to our dogs and other animals! Our 10,000+ sq feet  hospital is fully equipped for surgeries with recovery area and we have ambulances for helping out the voiceless souls in need. All these have been possible with your support.

Coming to the current situation, as planned and informed prior, we started with the VOSD Sanctuary Expansion Project to increase our capacity to 1400+ dogs and provide better service to the animals. 28 new enclosures are being built over a 33,600 SQ feet area with water, drainage, powerlines all underground. The reconstruction process has started and we are half way through the process.

You can go through this video to see some parts of the work:

The expansion project has currently slowed down since we are in need of more funds. The project is half way through and we have to complete it in order to reach our vision. We will be sharing videos and pictures once we are through with the project. This is our humble request to you all to support us once again. Our dream is to create the best of facility for our friends in the sanctuary. One share from your end can help us reach out to more donors who can support us. Please do help us to reach our goal, with all of your support we can definitely do wonders like we did till now.

All of us here at VOSD are sending you our heartfelt gratitude and love.

Thanks and Regards,

Dear Supporters,

Our journey with you all has been a path filled with joy and inspiration. Joy from the exceptional support we have received from you all and inspiration for continuing our work with the higher vigor and to reach better heights to support more and more helpless souls.

Throughout this journey, we have been posting updates about our hospital and sanctuary, the development and progress at each stage have been briefed to you all through our updates. This festive season we would like to share our next project.  A new start for a new year!

As mentioned in the previous update, VOSD has the plan to increase our capacity to 1400+ dogs from the current capacity of 900+ dogs. With the completion of the 10,000+ sq feet Hospital and 50+ high-quality kennels averaging 75-100 sq.feet which we could with your support, we're moving on to the VOSD Sanctuary expansion project. A few details had been mentioned in the previous update, we will share a detailed explanation of our plan and vision in this update.

Our plan is to double the land use and efficiency that will increase our capacity. 50% of the VOSD sanctuary area has non-standard construction with unplanned/poor land use. As a result one half of the sanctuary only houses 250 dogs. Changing the land use in that particular area will easily bring this capacity to 750+ dogs.

Reconstruction will happen over 33,600 sq feet where there are 28 plots, each 30 feet x 40 feet are laid out on either side. Of a 10 feet wide stone path, such that the outer perimeter of these 30x40 feet plots is the outside boundary of the 1.5 acre plot. Each plot has a cement and concrete ‘house’ measuring 10x15 feet with one door and 2 windows so dogs have a 4 side open area and indoor area. The layout factors in the 300 trees planted in this area, which we will not be cutting or pruning.

The expansion project would have 28 plots each with:
- 1 room measuring 150 sq feet of flooring + 150 sq feet or roofing with 10’ high concrete brick walls, plastered and painted with washable distemper & with 2 windows, 1 door (total 4200 sq feet of roofed area)
- Underground drainage for all plots
- Power connection for all rooms with light fittings
- A set of 2 gates for each plot
- 6 feet chain link fence on all sides but with 10 feet high cement wall on the external perimeter (~1000 running feet)
- Streetlights on steel masts at 200 feet along the path with 4 streetlights in each cluster
- Motorable road between the plots (~1000 feet)

Also, one more major part for which we would like to have your support would be for the operational expenses. We are trying to expand and are also trying to improve our infrastructure for serving the dogs. Currently, on a monthly basis, we are spending about close to ₹17.5 Lakhs per month for the food for the animals, salaries of the employees and helpers, maintenance of the infrastructure and assets, medical requirements for the animals, etc. The operational expenses are just going to increase exponentially with the number of animals increasing when we complete our expansion project.

We are indebted to everyone who has contributed towards our cause as donations and well wishes, this journey will continue further and we do expect the same support from everyone. Our intentions are to provide the best of facilities and care for our speechless companions. Please do continue supporting us with the same fervor and energy.

Dear Supporters,

The support we have received from you all have inspired us to do more and have motivated us to work much harder to reach our goal of creating the best sanctuary we can for the animals we have. We are awed by the response we have got from all of you. A big shout out and heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us by donating, sharing and wishes. Here is the update on how we have utilized the funds you have trusted us with all the details.

We have almost completed our hospital's construction. We have also build a residence for the veterinary doctors who would come down to treat the animals at VOSD.

Here is a video of showing the functional hospital :

The larger and the more aggressive dogs abandoned that find home at VOSD are now getting sparkling new kennels (which are more spacious) and a pool for swimming and hydrotherapy.

The VOSD Sanctuary Hospital upgrade project is almost complete - take a look at this new place where our largest dogs that need their privacy and independence will run and play! You can also see the pool coming up for them there.

We have also got two new vehicles for transportation of the animals, a Tata Safari Storme and a Tata Winger. Here is the picture of one of them:

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=481285462467403

This new bus has everything removed - so it's one large flat bed for the babies. It can comfortably drive 8-10 dogs. Large enough for it to be a temporary room for 3-4 dogs to stay a night in case of emergency. It's got an AC for when the bus is running and fans for the night. Cameras fitted to watch the back.

VOSD just broke ground on the capacity to increase to 1400+ dogs. With the completion of the 10,000+ sq feet Hospital and 50+ high quality kennels averaging 75-100sq feet we're moving on the VOSD Sanctuary expansion project.

Essentially 10 large enclosures with non standard sizes and roofing are being demolished. They have poor utilisation and design and availability of sunlight etc. They are making way for 30 enclosures each of 30*40 feet (that is the size of a house) for a total of 36,000 sq feet (that's the size of a small housing colony). Of this 20,000+ sq feet is land not constructed on currently.

Each of these plots in it's center will have a standard large cemented floored and roofed room with space on all 4 sides for dogs to run. Each such enclosure will house 12-15 dogs giving us a capacity of 400-450 dogs in the new section alone.

Here is the final bill with GST for the hospital construction, veterinary residence and the new additional facility :
