Dear All,

Today is 19th of September 2019. By the grace of the Almighty, my babies who were born on the 22nd of August have completed four weeks of life and have entered their 32nd week of development. We were told by our doctor that for 27 weeker babies, the first 2-4 weeks of life are the most crucial for survival.

Dr Ajay Lal and his team at Lal Superspeciality Hospital are taking good care of the baby girls (Belita and Bettina) and are monitoring their progress round the clock. Although there have been many highs and lows during the last four weeks, both Belita and Bettina are currently stable and maintaining their vital parameters. Progress is slow but steady. For extremely pre term babies, progress is generally slow.

Belitta was excubated a couple of days ago and is currently on nasal ventilation. She is able to tolerate her mother's feed on most days.
Bettina continues to be on the ventilator (minimum settings). She had infection and swelling which are gradually subsiding. If everything goes well the doctors plan to excubate her in the next 2-3 days and start both the babies on KMC (Kangaroo Mother Care) as soon as possible. KMC refers to the practice of providing continuous skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby. I was told that once they are able to start the KMC the babies' immunity will increase and they will gain weight faster. Both babies would need another 3-4 weeks stay at the NICU. Although its a long journey but we are hopeful that we will get there eventually and our babies will come home soon.

On behalf of our families, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your constant support and prayers. It has made a huge difference in our endeavour to save our babies. We are overwhelmed and touched by your gesture. Please let my babies continue to receive your blessings and prayers so that they continue to get better and come home soon. May God bless you all.

With deepest gratitude and warmest wishes.

Dear Supporters,

Here is a quick update on babies' health.

The status of both the girls are the same as yesterday, however, there is a slight improvement in the condition of both the babies. One is on nasal ventilation and the other is on low ventilator settings. Both babies are tolerating feed. Parameters are under control.

Thank you so much for your love and support.
